Our event is comprised of all volunteers.  Our mission is to give back to the community youth groups and for 5 years now, we have been able to do this.  Last year, we gave back to 3 local youth groups from a portion of our net proceeds.  The groups that received a portion of our net proceeds were, the Special Olympics, National Honor Society ( Shady Cove School ) and the URCC Youth Activities Program.  In order for them to receive a donation all of these groups have to help out at SPAM®.  In 2014, we will once again be giving back to these 3 groups.

If you would like to volunteer, we would love to have you.   Email us at: spamfestival@mighty.net

"Volunteers are unpaid not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless!"

History of SPAM®

Throughout the years, festivals have always been a great way of bringing people together....and also play an important part of building a community.  The history of the SPAM® products dates back to 1937, and was a culture icon in the 40's.  During World War II, sales of SPAM® luncheon meat soared.  In part because it requires no refrigeration, SPAM® products were perfect for the military and became a standard K-ration for U.S. soldiers.

Today, you can visit the SPAM® Museum at 1101 N. Main Street , Austin , Minnesota and also go to the office Website at:  www.spam.com.  Shady Cove has been known for one-day of celebrating this tradition, along with many other cities across the USA .

This is truly a Family Event and something for everyone to do.  You won't want to go home, and we know that we will see you back next year!
